WHEN SHOULD I TAKE MATERNITY PHOTOS?

One question I receive often is: “When should I take maternity photos?”

Especially if this is your first baby (or even if it’s not – let’s be honest – every pregnancy is different!) it can be hard to know when to take maternity photos! You want to be showing, but you also don’t want to be uncomfortable!

I have found that the sweet spot for maternity photos is between 28-34 weeks! Of course we can shoot before or after that, but I’ve found that gives you enough of a bump – but you aren’t also too uncomfortable yet!

When I had maternity pictures taken for the first time with my daughter – I waited until almost 37 weeks to take them. I had to pee the entire time and was miserable! We had an amazing photographer and you can’t tell – but I felt it the whole time!

I’ve also shot maternity photos just a few days before a mom gives birth!

So at the end of the day, it really is all up to you and what you would like! I’m here to document and help you remember these fleeting and special seasons, but it’s really all up to you!
